About Our Events

The Quadra Community Centre and Blenkin Park are host to a plethora of events and activities during the course of a year.  You will find a diverse variety of activities to take part in (check out our Events Calendar tab on this site to see everything that is going on each week). There truly is something for everyone; whether it be a concert, a dance, the Community Kitchen Lunch, Friday Flicks, the Fall Fair, Music Festivals, Folk dancing, Yoga, Belly Dancing, Summer Rec, Tennis, Slo-Pitch, Fitness Classes or a club or group to join, there is so much on offer. That is just a snapshot of what goes on at your Community Centre. The events listed below are the larger annual events spearheaded by the Quadra Island Recreation Society (or by a committee of the Rec Society) and have become some of our most longstanding traditions on the island as well as fundraising efforts in support of the Community Centre.

May Day

May Day is Quadra's oldest community celebration dating back to 1898. It is a non-commercial family event that takes place at Rebecca Spit. It is a vibrant and entertaining expression of the cooperation and diversity of the Quadra Island community. It includes a parade with prizes for best costumes, a May Court, a variety of races, tug-of-war, a grease pole, a driftwood fort building competition, face paint, belly dancing, box lunch auction and in general, a wonderful chance to come together with friends and neighbours in a beautiful and scenic environment to celebrate our community.

It is always on the Saturday after the May long weekend.

Please remember to keep your dogs at home.

Check out our Galleries tab on this site to see more May Day photos.
