Commemorative Giving Policy

The Quadra Island Community Centre has for many years been the heart of this island. It has been a part of many islanders lives and the source of happy memories. To recognize this, the Quadra Island Recreation Society has established a Commemorative Giving policy.

1. Gifts in Memory pay tribute to the memory of a person who has passed away. These gifts can be designated for  a.) a special purpose  b.) the Commemorative Giving Fund

a.) Special purpose gifts can be selected from a list of suggestions provided by the Board of Directors of the Recreation Society, or a suggestion of the donor if it is approved by the Board of Directors. The monetary donation to purchase the gift,  must be sufficient to purchase, install and maintain the gift  over the ensuing years. A small plaque can be installed with the gift to acknowledge the memory of an individual.

b.) The Commemorative Giving Fund will be used to purchase major items for the Community Centre. These  acquisitions will be labeled as being purchased by this fund. For gifts totaling over $1000 in memory of an individual, the name of the individual being memorialized can be inscribed in the Commemorative Giving Plaque in the Community Centre.

2. Gifts in Honour pay tribute  to a living individual and can be used to recognize special events or occasions. Those will also be part of the Commemorative Giving Fund. When you give a commemorative gift, the Quadra Island Recreation Society will send to a member of the family you wish to honour or to the individual, a note including your name but not the amount of the gift.

3. A tax deductible receipt is issued for monetary donations to the Quadra Island Recreation Society’s  Commemorative Giving Fund.
